these are lovely - folie or paradis, that's the question, isn't it - perhaps some of both :D
yes a difficult question. though the one who made these calligraphies (an old cousin) only meant "paradise" by these 2 letters, in it's religious meaning. it can also read like "becoming mad" so of course, i took the second choice too ;)
